Greece is one of the most popular travel destinations throughout the world. This is largely thanks to its array of beautiful islands. While mainland Greece is still nice, it’s the islands that garner the most attention and make the perfect travel destination.
Keeping that in mind, I’ve got a few essential tips to help you travel to the Greek islands and have an amazing adventure.
Go Island Hopping
There are so many beautiful Greek islands such as Mykonos and Santorini, it’s almost impossible to choose one to go to. The great thing is, a lot of the islands are close to one another, and they offer boats to and from each other. This gives you a chance to go island hopping and explore each island. Pick a handful that you can easily get to via boat, and then spend some time exploring them. Most of these islands are small enough that you can see pretty much everything of worth in a couple of days. It makes your travel experience that little bit better as it’s like you’re going on multiple holidays within one trip.
Buy Travel Insurance
I can often be a bit iffy when it comes to buying travel insurance. Sometimes, I feel like it’s a waste of money as it’s rare something bad will happen. However, when traveling to any Greek island, you will need insurance. The airports are small, and flights regularly suffer severe delays or get cancelled. So, you want to be covered in case this happens to you. If you use things like the GoBear travel insurance comparison tool, you can search for insurance that covers you in Greece. I’d make sure that it specifically covers you in the event of flight cancellations, lost luggage, or severe delays. These are the three main things that might pose a problem on your trip, so you want to protect yourself.
Bring A Good Camera
Smartphone cameras are decent, but they don’t do the Greek island’s justice. These places are so stunning, you need to capture their beauty. Get yourself a good DSLR camera for your trip. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be that good, an entry level one is still fantastic. This lets you capture so many beautiful shots and preserve memories of the naturally stunning landscapes and towns. To take your whole experience to a new level, buy a drone as well. The aerial views will be quite ridiculous, trust me. These islands are full of beaches and little towns with lots of immaculate white buildings clustered together, the views from the plane will be great, and the views from your drone will be something else. Speaking of cameras, I strongly advise you do at least one time-lapse of the sunset from each island. The sunsets in this part of the world are really special, you won’t regret it.
These are my three tips for traveling to any of the Greek islands. It’s a truly marvelous travel destination, and you can spend a good couple of weeks just journey around this area and seeing the different beauties each island possesses.
