Holiday Apartment vs Hotel – What is your Preferred Accommodation Option?

It’s a decision every traveller confronts when a choice is needed to be made when jet-setting on holidays, and often it comes to personal preference as to what accommodation will suit your demands for the specific trip.

In the forefront of the mind, the decision will come down to the amount of people in your travelling party and what will suit your demands on vacation. That is when you know the answer to your question.

Therefore, when you’re planning a trip away with a big group, it’s difficult to decide whether a holiday apartment or hotel is the right answer for you.

You’ll find there are advantages and disadvantages to both but maybe the below points will help you make the right decision in the Holiday Apartment vs Hotel debate.

Privacy is the Key for your stay

Even if you adore the people you’re travelling with, there will come a point when you’ll need your own space. When you go as a big group to a hotel, your often lumbered with a larger room but you’re on top of each other all of the time.

An apartment usually means you’ll have your own bedroom and a door to close when you need to.

It could come down to Price

Depending on where you’re travelling to and the kind of luxury you’re looking for, there often isn’t too much difference between the price of an apartment and a hotel.

However, when you choose an apartment, like accommodation in Hamilton Island, you’ll likely share the price of everything. Meals and drinks will be cheaper if you share the cost too.

Home Away from Home, it can be importan

Sometimes you just want a few home comforts. Staying in an apartment can feel a lot like staying at home but with the added bonus of exploring somewhere new.

It’s easier to feel comfortable in that kind of setting where you’re able to get whatever you want without having to ask someone else.

Added Extras for your stay

There aren’t many of us that aren’t online these days and we often rely on a WiFi connection to stay in touch with family and friends.

You may even need to work while you’re away. While staying in a hotel, you may find that you’re charged extortionate rates to connect to the WiFi. However, when staying at holiday apartments, the WiFi is usually in with the price of the stay.

If you’re planning on staying for a longer than average visit, you may want access to washers and dryers, instead of having to pay for dry cleaning.

Perhaps you’ll want something as simple as a toaster to make your own breakfast in the mornings. The little things count when you want a stress-free holiday.

Security Deposit is vital

One of the great advantages to staying in a hotel is that you don’t usually have to pay a security deposit.

So, if someone you’re travelling with decides to make a little too much mess, you won’t lose a ton of money through no fault of your own. However, if the same thing happened while staying at an apartment, it’s unlikely you’ll get your deposit back.

Of course, the best way to stay out of a situation like that is to travel with responsible people.

Leave it to Someone Else

Generally, when you go on holiday you don’t want to have to think about the washing and dishes. When you stay at a hotel, everything is done for you. If your stay is short, staying at a hotel can be part of the experience just because it’s nothing like home.

Review of the The Face Suites Airbnb Apartment in Kuala Lumpur

Review of the The Face Suites Airbnb Apartment in Kuala Lumpur

This Airbnb apartment in Kuala Lumpur was booked using my funds and is not a sponsored post. I’m writing an opinion of my stay at the Face Suites Airbnb in KL because I feel I have to bring travel bargains as I experience them. So, here I am giving you my latest accommodation review. Enjoy.

Finding the right accommodation when travelling with my family requires careful planning and thorough research. If I’m travelling alone, I don’t nearly go through such an extensive search.

However, when it comes to my flesh and blood, I tend to be more pedantic by reading guest reviews, scouting the potential location and of course, find that bargain.

Before my recent trip to Kuala Lumpur, it’s what I did by looking through hotel search engines like Booking.com and TripAdvisor, and onwards to the Airbnb’s main website, which has become a big favourite of mine when finding suitable family accommodation.

On this occasion, Airbnb was again the clear standout in all facets, from pricing, the two-bedroom apartment and the central Airbnb location that made for the ideal apartment to rent in KL.

The Face Suites Airbnb apartment I found for this trip came with a full-scale kitchen, mini-laundry, a living area, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and it was all in the confines of a modern building close to the action in the city.

To make the situation even better it came at the price of $700 over the nine nights we stayed in KL, that’s about $77 per night.

Now that’s a bargain price if I had ever seen one before, in fact, it was daylight robbery in the country of Malaysia.

Accommodation Review – The Face Suites Airbnb Apartment in Kuala Lumpur

Booking the Airbnb Kuala Lumpur Accommodation

Booking the room was a simple process. Firstly, I put in the dates that I would be in Kuala Lumpur on the Airbnb website, and a variety of apartments came up in the search results.

From there, I checked over the options in front of me by scouring through the pictures of various apartments, viewed the layout of the apartment, read the guest reviews and the most significant decisive factor of all, the pricing.

When I felt satisfied that I had found the right apartment, I sent a few messages to the host with a few searching questions, who duly replied in quick time, I clicked the pay now section and confirmed the payment. Simple as that.

Do you want to check out the apartment I booked, you can right here.

The Apartment Building – The Face Suites

The high-rise building where our apartment was situated is called The Face Suites, a combination of living apartments and hotel.

Having the Airbnb apartment included inside the same building as a hotel meant we were able to have access to the facilities of the hotel such as access to the Infinity pool and Skydeck restaurant on the 51st floor.

Which also came the stunning views of the city, which included the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower.

The Airbnb Kuala Lumpur apartment didn’t’ come with room service or daily housekeeping, but for the bargain price we found for the accommodation, that was the least of my concerns.

The Airbnb Apartment we stayed in

The apartment we rented in KL was gorgeous and had everything required for a family stay.

Starting with the living area, the first thing you see upon entering the apartment is the kitchen that has everything required, with a large fridge, stove/oven, ample cupboard space and tucked away is also a laundry/dryer.

The lounge area is on the other side of the kitchen, that has a large family lounge suite, cable television and a large window where you can have a constant peak at the city in front of you.

The two bedrooms within the apartment is separated, which meant an appropriate amount of privacy, which is fantastic for the parents.

The kid’s room has a couple of beds with spare mattresses in case extra bedding is needed. They even have their bathroom situated next-door.

The main bedroom was enormous, with a king-size bed, a magnificent private bathroom, a walk-in wardrobe and a second television when you need to watch a movie away from the kids.

I don’t say this lightly, but it’s the kind of apartment you could live in permanently and not only use for a holiday purpose.

It’s an apartment that has everything required for a home, and that includes free WIFI.

What’s Nearby to the Apartment Kuala Lumpur

The location was close walking distance to the Kuala Lumpur City-Centre with many restaurants, bars and shopping centres nearby, and not mention the famous Petronas Twin Towers which is the major attraction with in the city and specifically magnificent at night.

The transportation choices are plenty with the closest Monorail station a five-minute walk the building and is seen from the apartment window.

The subway station was a further five-minute walk down the road from the Monorail station. Google Maps does come in handy in these situations.

If public transport doesn’t work, you can always download the Grab App and hire a driver for a low price.

Therefore, from your Airbnb Apartment, anything and everything was close by or well within reach.

Final Review of the Face Suites

I could have paid double for this accommodation, and I would have been a happy man.

From the perfect living apartment and the facilities inside The Face Suites high-rise building.

It’s all tied into together to make a great stay in this elegant Apartment in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia.

So you’ve decided to travel abroad for your next holiday? You’ve chosen which country you want to visit, and the time of year you are going, but you’re not sure about what kind of accommodation to get.

Helpful Tips For You on Choosing Your Vacation Accommodation

Stay in a Hostel

If it is just you and a friend or two (or spouse) and you plan to have an active holiday, then you might want to consider staying in a hostel. This might sound like utter madness to some people, but hostels can be incredibly cheap alternatives to staying in something like a bed and breakfast or hotel.

Also with proper research, you can find some that are also maintained to a very high standard. A hostel often has you sharing a large room with a lot of different people with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.

However, this doesn’t have to be the case. For example, Anker Hostels in Norway offer individual rooms so you can stay with another person and you have your own kitchen and bathroom.

You need to either provide your own bedding or rent some from the front desk, and the same is true for pots and pans. It still completely self-catered but if you don’t mind cooking (or plan to eat out a lot), then a hostel like this could be perfect for you.

Why not a Holiday Home?

If you like the sound of a hostel, but want something all to yourself, then you should definitely get yourself a holiday home. You will need to provide your own food, but everything else comes with a holiday home.

You can rent holiday homes around the world, and they are an excellent choice if you are taking a family on holiday. This way everyone gets their own space and can enjoy the holiday to its fullest.

You can use a site like Elite Holiday Homes Holiday Rentals to search for the right. Whether you want a holiday home in a secluded location or with a swimming pool, with enough research, you can find the perfect getaway for you and your entire family.

While holiday homes are more expensive than a hostel, they are also generally of a higher standard, and you will be able to roll out of bed and get straight on with enjoying your holiday every morning.

Stay in a Hotel for all budgets

Hotels are probably the most common form of accommodation when going abroad.

Hotels offer a lot of different options from the full board where you don’t need to pay for food and drink all holiday to bed and breakfast to completely self-catered and something in between. You can find a hotel that will give you the specific options you are looking for.

They also have a lot of additional services and activities. Hotels are often a great choice for people with young children as plenty of them offer activities during the day.

This gets the kids off having fun and allows adults to relax and enjoy a much-deserved break. There are also exclusive adult hotels where couples can enjoy a romantic vacation with no disturbances at all.
