12 Reasons to have Husband & Wife Time and Go Travelling Without Kids
Sure, taking kids along on family trips is a blast and nowadays totally doable – but that doesn’t mean parents can’t enjoy the occasional romantic getaway!
When planning an adults-only trip to Thailand in 2016, I thought of all the little things couples could do while leaving their darlings back home. Not only does it make for some naughty fun, appreciate your freedom more than ever before & go wild with a couple of selfies (adults still have got to rock Instagram!), but you’ll also be spared from having to share hotel rooms or deal with squabbling between siblings ˗ travel together as just two makes everything so much smoother. Plus, at least 9 out of 10 times, we’d instead hit up paradise with our babes by our side anyways 😉
Sometimes, it’s OK to be a little selfish! After all, if you don’t take care of yourselves first and foremost (as husband and wife), the whole family will suffer. Keep the flame alive in your marriage – this is key for ensuring everyone under one roof remains happy and contented! Travel isn’t necessary either – make time together count.
Has the phrase “quality time together” started to become a distant memory? Do you think it’s impossible for you and your spouse to escape without kids in tow? Here are 12 reasons couples-only vacations can be as crucial as quality family time: exploring exotic getaways with No Kid Zone policies, having grandparent sleepovers or turning off notifications so the only conversations happening involve two people. So break free from childcare obligations – even if it’s just one per cent of spare moments! It’ll give you well-deserved R&R on those famously dubbed “No Kids Allowed” holidays.
12 Reasons to Have Husband and Wife Time and Go Travelling Without Kids
Ready to get away but worried about leaving your kids behind? Here are 12 reasons why now is the perfect time for husband and wife only vacationing – no tykes allowed! Rekindle that spark while exploring new lands. Who knows what adventures await you two lovebirds?!
1. Airports are a breeze to get through
Whether flying solo or with your special someone, airports no longer have to be a hassle. You can move from the check-in counter to the gate without worrying about losing any baggage – or kids! With no time wasted on mini-people running around and making a ruckus, why not take some leisurely pre-flight sips too? So it’s goodbye to stressful airport hassles and hello to relaxed, breezy travels!
2. Paranoid-free flights without the Nagging
Are you and your honey ready for a peaceful journey 30,000 feet in the sky? Congrats – no kids allowed! Enjoy that precious freedom by snuggling up with some popcorn or simply taking an uninterrupted nap. Meanwhile, give those brave parents travelling abroad with their tiny terrors our most sincere condolences as they attempt to keep them entertained… good luck out there, folks!
3. It’s cheaper to travel when only two people are involved
Vacationing with two people? Now that’s a real treat! Not only do you save on the cost of kid-friendly flights and hotels, but all those expenses get considerably lower too. So why not reward yourself for being good enough to make it (almost) free – go ahead and splurge a little more during your travels!
4. Getting around is more comfortable without kids
Just like airports, travelling around at your holiday destination is stress-free as you don’t need to look over your shoulder every two seconds and ensure your children’s safety as every responsible parent should.
You pack everything that is only suitable for two people in your day bag, and you have a romantic time exploring as a married couple, just like the courting days pre-kids.
You can plan to do more adult-only activities, go on a hiking adventure fit for adults or get out to the events you wish to do while the kids are with grandma for a few days. On your vacation without kids is the time to do the stuff you want to do, so make it count.
5. Stay up late; why not? No one is hassling you in the morning
Unless you can afford those two-bedroom apartments or interconnecting rooms, staying up late with everyone in the same hotel room is impossible.
Especially if you want some alone adult time, if you know what I’m talking about. Travelling without kids opens up a few options for parents in the meantime.
Now staying up late can mean utilizing your hotel room with your partner (you can use your imagination on that one) or going out for a late night into town, visiting a few bars or clubs and getting a little tipsy with a few alcoholic beverages.
It doesn’t matter what time you return to your hotel room, as you can have a solid sleep-in deep into the morning and hopefully make your buffet breakfast at the last moment.
6. Sleep in because no one is jumping on you in the morning
If you hit the town and get wild, congratulations! You earned it. Don’t fear waking up early when no little kids are bouncing on your bed like a trampoline; sleep as late as possible. Ladies, that doesn’t mean your partner isn’t feeling frisky – they may be taking advantage of the peace too much!
7. Peaceful and relaxing meal times that deserve to be romantic
When you share a romantic meal with your special someone, romance is always in the air. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, tantalize tastebuds and waistlines alike! A five-star restaurant will fit the bill for some luxurious dining – but why not take things up another by enjoying an unforgettable al fresco experience under the sun in paradise on earth?
8. Shopping is fun, Perhaps not for the husband
If shopping with the kids wasn’t enough, why not embark on a journey of pure self-indulgence? Who cares if your wallet takes all the punishment – run amok in stores without having to say ‘no’ or argue about whether you should buy those shoes! For husbands everywhere who find themselves stuck holding their wives’ bags as she tries things on, this is one spree where bag carrying won’t be required…
9. Spend hours at the resort bar and drink as much or little as Preferred
Relaxation is the name of your holiday game, and what better way to kick off a romantic retreat than with some fun in the sun by the pool bar? Sip on something special like those fancy cocktails or one-of-a-kind beers. And don’t worry about that bank balance – now’s not the time for penny-pinching! So raise a glass (or two) while you enjoy every minute of your getaway as husband and wife.
10. Spoil yourself as a couple with a peaceful spa treatment
Make time for a serene couple’s spa session and treat yourselves to some much-deserved TLC! Whether unwinding in the nearby town centre or indulging at your preferred resort, don’t forget–you deserve only the best. So why not make it memorable with luxurious massages and romantic packages? Enjoy this blissful break from reality that’ll leave both of you feeling relaxed—and rejuvenated.
11. Rekindle the marriage that is a crucial thing to get right
They say the most significant issue when having kids is that you get caught up by being parents and only parents. It’s important to remember that you are also a married couple, and you can not forget to be husband and wife, whether you are at home going on a date night or travelling away for the weekend.
A romantic getaway is a great way to rekindle the passion of marriage and fall in love all over again, not that you needed convincing that your soul mates to begin with.
As I mentioned previously, there is nothing wrong with being selfish parents for one-per cent of your time, as long as you are always doing the right things for your children, which is naturally the most crucial part of any family.
12. We’re all thinking about it, so why not say it – It begins with S
Sex, of course, it’s sex. You’re all thinking about it, so why not mention it?
Naturally, a few love-making moments will happen on a romantic escape without the kids, and who knows, perhaps nine months later, there could be another surprise on the way.
Do I need to finish on a better note? I suggest I don’t.
Now all you need to go and do is give your marriage the ideal refresher it needs and travel without kids at your next suitable time. You won’t regret it, I know we didn’t, and it was a fair dinkum excellent time week away in Koh Samui.
Please don’t forget to add any great reasons to travel without kids in the comments below and have a little fun with it. Naturally, I am having a little fun here, and I know that travelling with kids is the ultimate adventure you can have as a family, and I wouldn’t change the situation for the world.
