Food is one thing that everyone can agree on when it comes to their favourite part about any vacation. Some people want a chance for some sunbathing and relaxation, while others look forward to exploring new cultures they may have never seen before or trying out different dishes from around the world – there’s no wrong answer!

There are a lot of things that you might want to get out of a trip abroad. For some travellers, it is all about lapping up the sun. Or maybe the prime motivation for a journey is to discover a new culture. But there’s one thing that anyone will agree is an excellent part of any vacation: the food.

One of the great joys of travelling is that you can discover new and exciting foods or eat the local’s favourites that you would also have back home.

In this post, we will look at this side of travelling by finding the best destinations for those who enjoy food. If you love to eat abroad, take a look at the following.

The best destinations for foodies worldwide are waiting for you.

Who doesn’t love a good meal while on vacation? The food is one thing every trip should have, and it can make or break your experience abroad.
Many people want to explore new cultures but often forget about the local dishes – which sometimes taste better than home cooking!

For others, though (like me), there’s nothing like taking in some sun with an ice cream cone from memory lane-style flavour treats just because you’re allowed outside during hours when most locals aren’t able).

Penang in Malaysia

This state in Malaysia is one of the consistently best foodie locations in the world, and it also happens to be a great place to stay anyway. It attracts people from all over the world, and a big part is that it is so cheap to stay in for a holiday. It is likely relatively inexpensive whether you are visiting or staying for longer.

Because of the sheer diversity of tourism there, the culinary arts identify with several cultures too. The variety means you can quickly get your hands on great-tasting Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Malay food at a massive range of places throughout the state. But the food itself is something you won’t want to miss.

You will even find some dishes which contain a heady mixture of these foods, making for an entirely new and unique way of crafting food. A dish known as Rojak is essentially just doughnuts, shrimp paste, and fruits – delicious. You can also expect pork dishes cooked to perfection, a million different kinds of soup and noodle ramen, and some classic Asian chilli dishes.

All of this, and for such a low price tag, you won’t want to leave Penang in a hurry because it’s easily one of the most vital stop-offs on any foodie tour of Southeast Asia.

London in Great Britain

The UK’s capital has long been one of the go-to world cities for many aspects of its culture, and the food has always been a large part of that. If you have never visited London, you might have an image in your head –  but it is unlikely to be accurate, as this city offers much more diversity than you would think. So what kind of food does London have to offer the budding tourist?

Given the city’s hugely multicultural nature, it’s no surprise that you can find cuisines from all over the world, expertly cooked and presented, and often just as good as they would be in their home locations. You have restaurant owners who moved to London thirty years ago and are still plying their trade, and you know that they offer some fantastic dishes.

Any Asian food you might care to name can be found easily, along with a vast range of Italian and even American-themed eateries. Whatever you have a soft spot for, London has it in droves.

A big part of London’s character is that it has the old and the new side by side, nestled in one cosmopolitan collage. It’s true of the buildings, and it’s true of the food, which is why at the same time as having classic old dishes prepared for you, you can also step across the road and visit some genuinely forward-thinking contemporary restaurants too.

This city is home to none other than the repeatedly-voted ‘Best Restaurant In The World. Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, so there should be no doubt that you are in one of the world’s top foodie locations.

Put; it has everything you could want and much more besides. It should be central to any food lover’s tour.

Melbourne in Victoria – Australia

Melbourne is an important city, so it shouldn’t be too shocking that it offers a vast array of incredible food. But what exactly can you expect to find here?

Overall, it’s an impressive food scene, with one of the best ranges of dishes in the world and a cultural and local appetite which makes for fantastic dining experiences too. Melbourne has been home to some of the world’s top chefs, many of whom sprung up from its organic foodie roots rather than settling elsewhere. The city seems to breathe and sleep food, which is good news for the hungry traveller.

The Italian population have developed one of the most formidable cafe scenes anywhere in the world, boasting some fantastic Italian dishes you’ll want to try out. There are also some highly accomplished and professional Korean restaurants, which you might not expect, and they are known to be home to some truly incredible dishes.

The type of food that Melbourne does well is, unsurprisingly, seafood. But this is one of the very top locations in the world for high-quality, incredibly fresh seafood of all kinds. From lobsters to giant king prawns and seabass, you can bet the Australians know what they’re doing with it.

We can’t skim over Australia without mentioning the famous barbeque scene. While this is undoubtedly played out too much abroad, Aussies love a BBQ – and Melbourne offers some great establishments for that kind of food. Lovers of red meats and kebabs will find a great place to stay in Melbourne.

Toronto in Canada

Canada’s capital is excellent to visit for a vast number of reasons. It is home to some of the most famously friendly and polite people on earth, making any travels there feel like a safe and warm homecoming for anyone. It has many cultural outputs you can enjoy, from music and cinema to dancing, opera and much more. But something it does well is producing incredible food which you can buy for low prices across the fair city.

The gastropub is fast becoming one of the most popular ways to eat everywhere in the world, and there is nowhere that does it better than Toronto. There are so many of these that the sheer competition causes a tremendous continual rise in quality and not an alarming price drop.

Like many other cities, there is also a bustling Italian eatery scene, and it’s one of the best. You’ll also find it great for the charming independent restaurant serving all kinds of food, and you will be hard pushed not to eat well during your trip. It’s a top city for food lovers and everyone else.

As you can see, foodies have a lot of options when it comes to finding great places to eat. If you’re thinking of a new trip, why not take a food tour of the globe? The above locations will all be must-haves on your list of to-dos.
