The Features of Mai Samui Beach Resort & Spa
Where is the Mai Samui Resort
The Mai Samui Beach resort is located in the North West of Koh Samui and is situated about thirty-minutes from the Koh Samui International Airport.
Depending on the Mai Samui deals you end up with, you could get a free transfer through the resort upon arriving on Thai Island. If not, a taxi will suffice, and the taxi driver will know where the popular resort is without needing any directions.
The Staff of Mai Samui
The friendly staff of the stunning resort is what made the trip and stay so memorable. The politeness, their eagerness to assist, the smiles and greetings daily were first class, and they were very friendly, but that’s what you would expect with a high calibre resort. Any problem encountered, which was rare, the staff were quick to resolve it.
Naturally, there was a language barrier, as most staff outside the service area didn’t speak a great deal, but it didn’t dent their endeavour to make the stay enjoyable, although you need to remember, that we are a guest inside their country.
The Elegant rooms
The rooms were large and spacious, with large a bathroom and a grand view of the resort and the swimming pools below that was greeted to you from your private balcony. If you pay a little extra money, you can get a room from the bottom deck at the deluxe poolside rooms.
All Mai Samui rooms have the usual amenities that are provided at most Koh Samui resorts with a mini bar, tea & coffee facilities, bathroom essentials, 24-hour room service and a quality laundry service.
Inside the Mai Samui Beach Resort, there are many types of rooms available for the guest and depending on your budget; you can book either a regular deluxe room, pool-side deluxe room, as well as the large suites and villas, which is close by to the Mai Samui Beach and pool-bar. The basic resort room inside the resort goes from about $150 a night, but specials do come around from time to time.

Dining Options are plenty at Mai Samui
Three great restaurants and an awesome evening-time Beach-side buffet make up the fabulous dining experience at the resort. The menu has a great selection of Thai food mixed in with a western cuisine and everything is delicious
The Mai Pub: Tucked away in the corner of the resort. The Mai pub is an Al-A-Carte setup, that is opened nearly all day. Stay for dinner or stick around with your mates and watch international sports that are provided on the big screen, while sipping down a few beers from the bar.
Fine Dining at Sala: This ideally located restaurant is smack bang in the middle of the resort, along with great food, you’ll enjoy an excellent vantage of the resort, with great viewing of the beach, the swimming-pools on either side and many palm trees that are scattered throughout Mai Samui.
Beach-side BBQ Club: The best of the lot and it is only open for dinner, The Beach BBQ Club is a buffet-style dining experience that is situated on the sands of the beach, with the sounds of the water heard throughout your meal. It’s a perfect location to dine with your lover on the white sands of Koh Samui and watch the gorgeous sunset as you eat in style.

The Luxury Swimming Pools of Mai Samui
The swimming pools are conveniently located down the middle of the resort, with plenty of sun-deck chairs with umbrellas provided to get your appreciative tan, or to simply enjoy a cocktail while you relax in the sun.
The swimming pools come with two swim-up pool bars just in case you get thirsty during your swim and don’t forget about a happy hour between 1-6pm, happy days indeed.

Activities available at the Resort
Activities are at plenty at Mai Samui, with never a dull moment provided. In the resort you can exercises with some water yoga in the pool, play a game of squash on the court provided and keep your fitness in check at the resort gym. Other activities to do at Mai Samui are as follows:
Kayaking: Let’s get this straight from the outset, Mai Samui beach isn’t a swimming beach. Although that doesn’t stop you from entering the water on the occasions when the tide is in. Kayaks are available free to guest on the shore near the beach bar.
Mountain Biking: Mountain Bikes are available free of charge to ride around the island and perhaps to the nearest town in Na-Thon. But be careful of Koh Samui traffic, it’s manic on the streets. I prefer to walk and takes about 45-minutes to town.
Thai cooking class: At one-pm every day, the friendly chef will provide a one-hour Thai cooking class where you can get a little know-how on cooking Thai food. Check the resort for prices.
Mai Samui Spa: A spa centre that caters to your relaxing needs. The professional staff at the spa centre will provide you with excellent service, a welcome drink on arrival and a lovely tea as you leave. There is a broad range of massages and spa treatments to choose from at the desk, and one thing is for sure, you’ll leave your session feeling relaxed and energised to continue your holiday in Koh Samui with renewed spirit.
Shuttle Bus to Chaweng: Three times a day a shuttle bus leaves the resort and takes you to the main town centre in Koh Samui in Chaweng. A thirty-minute trip all up, you will be able to spend a large number of hours shopping, dining or swimming at the stunning beach until you return. The resort bus needs to be booked in advance as the number is limited, and if you feel the need to stay in town after the last bus returns to the resort, a taxi ride, will suffice.
Hin Lad Waterfall tour: Every Sunday the resort organises a free shuttle to the Hin Lad Waterfall, a brief tour that lasts a couple of hours. Bring your hiking boots for this trip however because it’s a thirty-minute hike once the bus and through rough terrain. The brief walk is worth it upon arrival.

Fair Dinkum Traveller Review
Mai Samui provided a holiday that my wife and I will never forget, it was after all, a ten-year wedding anniversary. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bedding comfortable for a good night sleep.
The resort staff were excellent, and the food was simply delicious on each occasion. The design of the resort gives you that paradise feels from the outset, and you will leave the Mai Samui Beach Resort feeling rejuvenated.
Fair Dinkum Traveller Rating 9/10 Excellent.
