How to Stay Fit While Travelling

A few basic tips on How to Stay Fit While Travelling.

How to Stay Fit While Travelling: Tips for Fitness Fanatics

How to stay fit while travelling? There are many ways to remain upbeat and active during your holidays, so you don’t need to fear losing the progress you’ve made during the holidays. Let’s discuss the ways to keep fit while travelling.

Be active during the day.

Remaining active during the day is a great way to start things, especially if you have a busy itinerary. If you are constantly moving, you will find it challenging to stay sedentary for long periods.

Explore your surroundings on foot as much as possible or participate in activities that keep you moving, such as hiking, swimming, or cycling.

Also, where possible, distance is not excessive. Instead of catching a taxi, Uber or Grab, walk to your following location or hotel. Not only is it a great way to remain fit, but it will also save you some dollars.

Find a hotel with a gym.

The best thing about finding a hotel through Booking.com is it allows you to see the room rate and reviews and whether the hotel has a gym.

I cannot tell you how great it is to have access to a gym while on vacation, as it allows me to stay on top of my fitness goals without worrying about looking for a local gym with an affordable membership.

Not everyone enjoys working out in a gym, but if you do, try to find accommodation with a gym or fitness centre.

Find a local gym or fitness class.

Finding a local gym or fitness class is the way to go with a short-term membership if you want to stay fit while travelling and have more control over your workout routine.

I would highly recommend this option if you stay in one place for an extended time, as it allows you to get into a groove with your workout routine.

It is also an excellent opportunity to try out new things and meet new people who might be able to show you around the area.

Endure a short and sharp fitness session.

Set aside a time in the day for a short and sharp fitness session, even if it is just for 20-30 minutes or less.

Short burst sessions will help to increase your metabolism and give you more energy for the day ahead. If you struggle to find time, wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual and get your workout done first thing in the morning.

You can also utilise any downtime during the day, such as lunch breaks or the evening before dinner.

Take advantage of your surroundings.

One of the best things about travelling is that you are constantly surrounded by new and exciting places to explore.

So, why not take advantage of this and use it as an opportunity to stay fit while travelling?

For example, if you visit a city, go for a run, walk around the block, or explore a new park.

If you are near the beach, swim or run along the sand. There are endless possibilities!

Go for a run or walk in the morning.

If you enjoy a good run or walk, make the most of it and go for a run or walk in the morning.

It will help wake you up and get your blood flowing, and you will also be able to explore the area you are staying in more closely.

It is a great way to start the day and get fresh air.

If you are not a morning person, then try to go for a run or walk in the evening before dinner.

Speaking of morning exercise, you should do the bulk of your activities in the morning when you have the most energy. You never know how your day of adventure will turn out, and by the end of the day, you might be too tired to exercise.

Kuala Lumpur rainforest

Enjoy a hike like the one I did with my family outside of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Take the stairs, especially when there are many.

Many people cringe at climbing an excess amount of steps. However, it is a great way to stay fit while travelling, significantly if you constantly move.

You can also use this to explore new places you might not have otherwise seen.

So, take the stairs instead of the escalator or lift next time you rush to make your train or plane.

You will be surprised at how much of a difference it can make.

Do some laps in the hotel swimming pool

If adequate, a hotel swimming pool can be a great place to stay fit while travelling.

Hotel pools are usually quite large, and you can easily do a few laps to increase your heart rate.

If you are not a fan of swimming, then you can also utilise the pool for other exercises such as water aerobics or walking.

Crowne Plaza

Keep fit while doing a few laps in the swimming pool.

Do some bodyweight exercises in your hotel room.

Find a lot of space in your hotel room, and conduct bodyweight exercises.

There are several great workouts that you can do with no equipment at all.

So, this is an excellent option if you are tight on time or space.

You can find many workout apps on your smartphones, such as Centre, Nike Training Club or Freeletics Bodyweight. Alternatively, find some exercises on Youtube.

Go on Day Tours that require a solid workout.

Whether it’s hiking in the rainforest, kayaking the flowing river, or white water rafting downstream, find an active tour that will also double as a workout.

That way, you can stay fit while travelling and see some amazing sights simultaneously!

Some of the best memories are made when we challenge ourselves to new things and get our hearts pumping. You’ll see some memorable scenery along the way when doing adventurous day tours that require a workout.

Wild Thailand

We are enjoying some extreme White-water rafting out of Khao lak in Thailand.

Balance out your fitness sessions with some relaxation.

While it is essential to stay active while on vacation, balancing your fitness sessions with some relaxation is essential.

After all, you are on vacation!

So, schedule some time to rest and recover, whether taking a yoga class, going for a massage, or simply taking a nap in the afternoon.

You will be surprised at how much better you will feel and how much more energy you will have for your workouts.

Eat healthily and drink plenty of water.

On top of frequent exercise, it’s essential to eat healthily and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.

Eating healthy can be challenging when you are constantly on the go, but it is essential to make an effort to eat three healthy meals a day and drink plenty of water.

If you snuck more often than usual, try making healthier choices such as fruits or nuts.

And if you are indulging in a few too many drinks, then make sure to drink plenty of water between alcoholic beverages.

Take advantage of downtime.

There will be periods during your stay where you have some downtime, whether waiting for your tour group to gather or killing time before your next activity.

Instead of sitting around and doing nothing, use this as an opportunity to exercise.

For example, you could go for a run or walk, do some stretching, or even stroll around the block.

Not only will it help to stay active, but you will also be able to explore your surroundings.

Get a travel insurance policy that covers you for fitness activities.

Before you go on vacation, getting a travel insurance policy that covers your fitness activities is essential.

This way, you will be covered if you injure yourself while working out.

Most travel insurance policies will cover a range of activities, but it is always best to check before buying.

And if you are planning on doing any extreme sports or activities, then make sure to get the appropriate insurance.

These are just a few of the ways that you can stay fit while travelling. With some planning and forethought, keeping on top of your fitness goals while enjoying all that vacation offers is easy. So, what are you waiting for in your next fitness workout during a break? Start planning your next fitness-filled vacation today!

How to Eat Healthy on Vacation: Tips for Hotel Dining.

Why Eat Healthy while on vacation?

You might think, “I’m on vacation, so I deserve to indulge!” And while that’s true to an extent, it’s important to remember that vacations are a time when we’re usually more active than usual.

Whether sightseeing all day or just spending lazy days by the pool, you’ll likely be doing more than you’re used to, so you must fuel your body accordingly. Eating unhealthy foods will only make you feel sluggish and won’t give you the energy to enjoy your vacation.

Plus, eating healthy while on vacation can help you relax more! When you’re not worried about fitting into your swimsuit or feeling bloated from all the unhealthy food, you can truly relax and enjoy your time away.

Of course, you may be the usual health freak who can’t help but eat healthy on vacation. That’s fine; what about those who need helpful tips on keeping the balance, right? This article will try to take care of a few healthy eating habits.

How to Eat Healthy on Vacation: Tips for Hotel Dining

We know that nutrition plays a vital role in maintaining our overall well-being. Eating healthily is always on the radar for many conscious travellers, but let’s face it, finding wholesome options in a hotel can be quite a challenge. Let’s break down the barriers and explore ways to make wise nutritional choices without compromising taste or satisfaction while residing away from home.

Try to avoid dining in restaurants for every meal.

Firstly, try to avoid eating out for every meal. Sure, stretching all the local restaurants is tempting, but your stomach will thank you for giving it a break from all that greasy food. Instead, use the mini-fridge and microwave for cooking simple meals in your hotel room.

A simple hotel meal could include:

  • Going to the nearest supermarket.
  • Purchase a range of healthy foods that are easily prepared without needing a kitchen.
  • Return the food to the room and indulge in a healthy meal before the television.

These simple meals could include salads, soup, whole-grain toast, fruit and yogurt.

If preparing meals in your room sounds too much of a hassle, at least eat breakfast in your room. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day anyway, so you might as well start your day with a nutritious meal!

Find Healthy Choice Restaurants

If you want to go out to eat, try to find restaurants with healthy options on the menu. More and more eateries are catching on to the fact that people want more nutritious choices, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a place that suits your needs.

A great way to find healthy restaurants locally is to google for reviews. Type in something like “healthy restaurants near me”, and you’ll find some good options. Once you’ve found a few places, please look at their menus online to see what healthy items they offer.

Manisan

The Manisan Restaurant is one of Bali’s finest at Alaya Resort, Ubud. It’s ideal for healthy eating.

Be Careful with Portion Sizes

Control the amount you’re eating; overeating is still possible even if you’re eating healthy foods. When we’re on vacation, we tend to relax a little more and let loose, leading to our overeating without realizing it.

Therefore, it’s essential to be mindful of your portion sizes, especially when dining out. Avoid getting an appetizer or starter when ordering a meal, as this will only add unnecessary calories to your meal.

If you’re struggling with portion control, ask the waiter to wrap up half your meal before you start eating. That way, you’ll be less tempted to eat it all!

Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

It’s no secret that drinking water is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but did you know it can also aid in weight management? When our bodies are dehydrated, they often send signals that are easily mistaken for hunger, leading us to consume unnecessary calories. That’s right; staying consistently hydrated promotes overall bodily wellness and helps stave off those pesky hunger pangs.

To combat this, try reaching for a glass of water the next time you feel that familiar rumble in your stomach—it just might quench your cravings and keep you feeling refreshed and satiated throughout the day. With this simple change, you’ll be well on your way to achieving optimal health and wellness.

Don’t Underestimate the Power of Snacking.

When you’re on the go, it can be easy to forget to eat or not have time for a proper meal. But that doesn’t mean you should go hungry! Always carry some healthy snacks, like nuts or fruit, so you can tide yourself over until you can sit down for an authentic meal.

This expert dentist in Stafford highly recommends staying away from junk food and sugary snacks. Aside from the detrimental effects on your dental health, they can also make you feel bloated.

Snacking in between meals is OK, as long as the food you eat remains on the healthy side, of course.

Healthy snacks could include :

-A handful of nuts

-A piece of fruit

-Vegetables and dip

-Yogurt

-Whole-grain crackers

-Dark chocolate

Make full use of a healthy breakfast menu.

Breakfast is a great time to indulge in healthy eating on vacation, while there is a range of food that’s not so good for you. A the same time, there are many foods you can select from when wanting to remain healthy and active for your full-day excursion.

A lot of hotels these days offer a healthy breakfast menu, so make sure to take advantage of it! Fill up on eggs, fruit, and whole-grain toast to start your day and give you the energy you need to explore.

Healthy breakfast choices can include:

-Eggs

-Fruit

-Whole grain toast

-Oatmeal

-Yogurt

-Nuts and seeds

-Vegetables

Alaya Resort

Curry prawn crepes are not your typical breakfast, but it’ll do me fine.

Make Full Use of Room Service

Room service, did you say? Yes, please. Room service is one of the great perks of staying in a hotel, so use it! You can usually find healthier options on the room service menu than at a restaurant, so take advantage of that.

The significant advantage is you can order a delicious and healthy room service meal and indulge in good eating while watching in-house movies. There’s always a lot to love about ordering room service.

Staying healthy while on vacation is possible if you put in a little effort. So go ahead and book that dream vacation, and don’t forget to pack your healthy attitude too! These simple tips will help you enjoy your time away without worrying about filling the pounds.

Ten things you didn’t know about Gardens by The Bay

The sprawling park has an area of 250 acres in the heart of Singapore. Located next to the Marina Reservoir, it’s easy to get there. All three waterfront gardens in the Gardens by the Bay are part of a larger complex.

Also, the Flower Dome is the world’s most enormous glass greenhouse. Here are some fascinating facts about Gardens by the Bay to keep in mind if you ever find yourself in the city-state.

1. The Gardens by the Bay at Recovered Land

They used reclaimed land to build these beautiful gardens in Singapore’s South. They saved over 250 acres of land for a natural park by the Singapore government. The government made the Gardens by the Bay solely to transform Singapore into a metropolis surrounded by lush greenery. These gardens significantly impact the city’s greenery and plant life.

The Garden’s centrepieces are 50-meter-tall mega trees entirely clothed in foliage. Aerial bridges, lakes, rivers, and eating and event areas are included in the gardens and are the standard features of a garden. To use a colloquial word, Singapore comprehended the task because of the city’s cool recreation area. Also, it included the gardens by the Bay in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

2. A global design competition was held for Gardens by the Bay.

Singapore’s Garden City-to-City-in-a-Garden transformation included the Gardens by the Bay project. People in Singapore wanted to improve their quality of life by creating an outdoor leisure area.

In 2005, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong unveiled a plan to build an ultra-modern green park. International design competitions were organized in 2006, with more than 170 participating businesses from 24 countries. They all came up with their ideas for the Garden.

The Singapore Botanical Gardens hosted this event, attended by the general public. An 11-member panel decided that Grant Associates would design Bay South and Gustafson Porter would design Bay East. It was not until much later that the Bay Central Garden was conceptualized and created.

3. Horticulture Theme Gardens in the Gardens by the Bay.

Locals and visitors enjoy and benefit from them as a recreational and educational resource. The Heritage Gardens are one of the gardens. Horticultural traditions from Singapore’s diverse ethnic communities are highlighted in these gardens. This Garden has plants from Singapore’s many ethnic groups and those from the country’s colonial past.

Throughout the Garden, visitors may learn about the economic value of plants in Singapore and the surrounding region. Each Garden has a distinct theme ranging from Chinese to Malay, Indian to Colonial, etc.

4. It Symbolizes the National Flower

Flowers were used as a metaphor for the overall design of Gardens by the Bay’s master plan. It’s not just any orchid, but Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, or Singapore orchid.

Miss Agnes Joaquin found the bloom in her Garden in 1893, and the name stuck. As a result, on April 15, 1981, it became Singapore’s official emblem. As a result of this flower’s beauty, The Bay South Garden was born. Tropical horticulture and cutting-edge architecture are on display in this enormous landscape.

5. SuperTree Grove

You won’t believe your eyes when you see the SuperTree at the Gardens by the Bay. Each of these 18 artificial trees is taller than a football field. On the trunks of each tree, you can find over 200 different plants, flowers, and climbers. Plants and vibrant arrangements of flowers were used to create a unique vertical garden.

The OCBC Skyway connects two of the Supertrees by a suspended aerial bridge. It provides stunning views, and the trees offer excellent shade during the day and a captivating light show at night.

It’s easy to go to the treehouse and the adventure route from the Garden. Opened in 2014, this area of the Garden may be visited from Tuesday through Sunday except for Mondays.

8. Feel the Comfort

One great thing about the Gardens by the Bay is that its temps are constantly steady. As a result of its tropical location, Singapore has a sweltering climate. Because of this, they were strolling the Gardens by the Bay in cooler weather, a welcome change of pace.

One of two cooled conservatories, the Flower Dome, is housed. It has a Mediterranean-like climate, with average highs and lows of 23 to 25 Celsius. The Dome’s taller ceiling allows it to fit a genuine mountain covered with tropical flora, making it more believable. A waterfall may be found on this peak, too.

9. The Gardens by the Bay Light Show

Visitors to the Supertree Grove are treated to an incredible light show every night. The display, dubbed “Garden Rhapsody,” involves lights that dance to music.

It’s a unique experience every time since the music never repeats itself. Between 7:45 and 8:45 pm, it plays for an hour every day of the week. Anywhere in the yard will give you a front-row seat to this stunning light show.
