Job Growth in UAE’s Travel and Tourism Sector Reaches 32,000 in 2022

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was one of the first countries to let foreigners back into its economy after the Covid-19 crisis. This was a critical step toward recovery for the travel and tourism industry.

The United Arab Emirates, which is made up of 7 emirates Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain is a country that manages to be both modern and traditional at the same time. Since the UAE’s economy has grown steadily over the past few years, working there now looks great on any CV.

Even though there are jobs all over this large country, most of them are in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Although the cost of living is relatively high, the standard is on par with the best in the world, so you get your money’s worth.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the number of jobs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will reach 305,000 in 2022. This is the same level as before the pandemic, indicating a remarkable job growth of 32,000 jobs last year compared to 2021’s 273,000 jobs.

Euromonitor ranked Dubai as the second most appealing city in the world for tourists to visit in 2022, and Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards named it the best holiday destination for 2023. As a result of Dubai’s rise to prominence as a popular tourist destination worldwide, it has received several prestigious awards.

As per Dubai Economy and Tourism, there was an increase in international visitors from over 97% to 14.36 million in 2022; nevertheless, it is lower compared to 2019 by 16.73 million.

The travel and tourism industry in the UAE has shown remarkable endurance and signs of growth, which is reflective of the widespread attraction that tourist locations in the area continue to hold for international travellers.

Julia Simpson, President and Chief Executive Officer of the WTTC has emphasized the relevance of national and local government’s understanding of the economic value of travel and tourism for local and national economies, jobs, and enterprises.

The World Tourism Association predicts that tourist spending in Dubai will rise by 46%, from $29.4 billion (Dh108 billion) at the end of 2022 to $43 billion (Dh158 billion) in 2032. The emirate’s tourism industry is expected to grow partly because the government is taking steps to attract more tourists from other countries.

WTTC predicts that the number of jobs in Dubai will grow by 13% in 2022, reaching 262,000. This will bring employment levels back to where they were before the epidemic. In Abu Dhabi, appointments will only increase by 0.4%, earning just over 43,000.

According to the report, there were less than 262,000 travel and tourism-related jobs in Dubai in 2019 and about 43,000 in Abu Dhabi. According to projections made by WTTC, the sector’s contribution to Dubai’s economy would have reached Dh46 billion, which is only 10% less than what it will be in 2019.

On the other hand, the travel and tourism industry in Abu Dhabi is expected to earn Dh11 billion in 2018, which is just 12% less than what it will make in 2019. The industry’s contribution in both cities has decreased by more than 50% by the year 2020, with the figure for Dubai falling to Dh19.5 billion and Abu Dhabi decreasing to barely Dh6 billion.

Tap into International Networks:

For many who venture abroad, international companies offer a pathway to employment. Given their global outreach, these companies can be gateways to overseas postings.

The Gulf region boasts numerous British businesses if you’re hailing from Britain. Securing a position with them can be a strategic move, giving you a footing in the UAE even before you relocate.

Decoding Job Advertisements in the UAE:

In the UAE, job ads often have specific prerequisites, such as age, gender, or nationality. While this may diverge from the norms in your home country, it’s a standard practice in the Emirates. Most of these vacancies are channelled through recruitment agencies or online portals, making them the go-to platforms for job seekers.

Forge Strong Professional Bonds:

While cultivating professional ties from afar might seem like an uphill task, it’s an invaluable asset in the UAE job market. Once employed in the region, doubling down on relationship-building can propel your career, opening doors to promotions and new opportunities.

The Power of Speculative Applications:

Sending out unsolicited applications can sometimes bear fruit. However, the depth and strength of your connections often tip the scales in your favour in the UAE’s job ecosystem.

Application Essentials:

In today’s digital era, most job applications in the UAE are transmitted electronically. Whether filling out an online form or sending a CV via email, ensure a recent photograph and a concise yet impactful cover letter accompany your application.

Interview and Health Check:

Once you’ve captured the attention of a potential employer, gear up for an in-person interview. Additionally, be prepared for a medical evaluation, a customary step in the UAE’s employment process.

Bonus Tip – Drive Your Way to Opportunities:

A UAE driving license can substantially bolster your employment opportunities in the region. With many companies in the UAE offering rental cars to their employees, a local driving license not only ensures you can make the most of this benefit but also provides the flexibility to explore the emirates freely. This license is both a tool for personal convenience and a potential edge in the job market.

Armed with these insights, you’re well-poised to navigate the vibrant employment landscape of the UAE.

Understanding the Language Requirements of the UAE

Arabic is the primary language spoken in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, English, Hindi, Persian, and Urdu are widely spoken.

Since there are so many expatriates living in the United Arab Emirates, most people there speak English well, which is also the language used in the workplace. But, communicating in Arabic will significantly boost your chances of finding work.

A Recap of Understing Tourism Companies in the UAE

Overall, the travel and tourism sector in the UAE shows a lot of potential for employment growth. With its booming economy and steady population growth, this sector could be an opportunity for those seeking jobs in the Emirates. This being said, job seekers should take their time to research available positions thoroughly and be prepared to grab the chance if it arises.

Moreover, with job forecasts indicating growth in this field, aspiring professionals may find job prospects more attractive over the coming years. Individuals must also remain aware of their possible challenges as they build their careers within this market. For those interested, now is a great time to start looking for a dream career in UAE’s travel and tourism industry.

6 Types of Hotel Accommodations for 6 Types of Travellers

6 Types of Hotel Accommodations for 6 Types of Travellers

Adiwana Resort Jembawan

When seeking the perfect accommodation, here are the six Types of Hotel Accommodations for six Types of Travellers to check out!

When travelling, finding suitable accommodations is part of the preparation. Understandably, you may want to stay where you can be most comfortable and which will suit the purpose of your trip.

Moreover, your budget, travel companions, and lodging location will be factors to consider in your choice of accommodation. For example, if you’re a business traveller, you may want a hotel in the city centre, while someone looking for a lavish vacation may find staying at a resort more appealing.

6 Types of Hotel Accommodations for 6 Types of Travellers

Whether you’re travelling for business or leisure, alone or with your loved ones, there are different hotel accommodations to match your needs as a traveller.

Airport Hotels for Business Travellers

Airport hotels are located inside an airport or close to an aviation terminal. They are trendy among business travellers who are only in town for a day or two or a few hours. The proximity to an aviation hub makes airport hotels, like the YotelAir Changi Airport hotel, appealing to people who must catch a flight soon. They’re also great for individuals who want to rest between their trips or during lengthy layovers.

Typical airport hotels offer amenities, including comfy beds, air-conditioned rooms, high-speed internet, essential toiletries, and private bathrooms. However, more luxurious hotels may provide guests with spa services, a heated pool and a 24-hour gym. All these are to make guests’ short stays comfortable, convenient, and relaxing.

When you have a plane to catch and transit is a tad long, an Airport hotel will be the hotel accommodation you’ll need.

Chain Hotels for Frequent Travellers

A common type of hotel accommodation is chain hotels. These are properties located in different parts of the world and owned by a single company. One of the critical offerings of chain hotels is that they operate with a set of standards synonymous with the brand. As a result, guests receive standardised and high-quality services they can expect from certain hotel brands.

In general, chain hotels can be found in highly commercialised areas. The prime location makes these hotels attractive to travellers who want to be at the centre of the action, such as those who visit for business or urban leisure. Also, chain hotels offer special rewards programmes to frequent guests. As such, the hotels are perfect for frequent travellers, like those who are usually away for business or regularly go on vacation.

Multi-Bed Suites for Families and Groups

Many hotels offer multi-bed suites that accommodate up to four people. This is an ideal lodging option when travelling with other adults or children, particularly kids who are young and still need supervision but require separate beds. Some hotels also offer cots to guests who may be travelling with infants. If you’re travelling with your family, consider booking such accommodation.

Another great thing about multi-bed suites is that you can save money because instead of booking multiple rooms, you can have multiple beds in a room. Moreover, it’s a great alternative to hostels if you’re travelling with friends because you can have a private bathroom instead of a shared one with strangers. Lastly, they offer essential in-room amenities like a snack bar, refrigerator, electric kettle, and coffee maker.

Resorts for Couples and Families

If you’re vacationing with your partner or family, staying in the resort is ideal. They offer everything you need in one place, including comfortable guest rooms, dining options, and various shopping and entertainment amenities for adults and children alike. Also, resorts can be found in popular vacation destinations, letting guests experience the place and nearby attractions comfortably.

Some resorts offer all-inclusive vacation packages, where travellers can pay a single price for unlimited services. This is perfect for those who may be going on family trips and don’t want to fuss about every single detail of their trip’s itinerary.

Budget Hostels for Backpackers

If you’re a solo traveller and on a budget, consider booking a hotel. Hostels offer affordable accommodation through dorm-style sleeping arrangements for short- and long-term stays. Hostels are a great inexpensive option if you don’t mind sharing a room with other guests and using a public bathroom.

Many hostels have basic facilities, but some offer valuable services for their guests. Some hotels may have a small selection of snacks and breakfast foods for guests. Sometimes, you might also find an accommodation that lets guests use the kitchen and has a self-service laundry facility. While hostels offer essential accommodations, they also allow guests to mingle and make friends with fellow backpackers or budget travellers.

Boutique Hotels for Individuals with Unique Tastes

Compared to the average chain hotel, boutique hotels are smaller. These accommodations have 100 private guest rooms or fewer, giving guests a more intimate and customised experience. They’re also typically located in trendy neighbourhoods in large cities.

What separates boutique hotels from the usual hotels is their one-of-a-kind style, which is reflected in the typically modern design of the hotel and individual rooms. Also, boutique hotels offer guests quirky amenities and personalised services. Boutique hotel managers and owners would usually get to know their guests and be more attentive to their needs. If you want a different experience, staying in a hip boutique hotel may be for you.

The best way to pick the perfect accommodation is to assess the purpose of your trip. From here, you can select a hotel that will suit your and your companions’ needs. If you still have trouble finding a suitable choice for your next adventure, check out the types of hotel accommodations listed above. It can help narrow your options and, hopefully, help you book a hotel room that’s right for you.
