In the early parts of spring, the weather is still cold and sow fields are still thick with snow. However, as the season progresses, the weather begins to heat up, and the flowers bloom.

The cherry blossoms come alive, and cities like Seoul and Gyeongju are booming with beauty and life.

If you want to avoid the crowds, late spring is the best time to visit when the weather is warm, but most students are still in school.

Best places to visit South Korea in Autumn:

Seoul in spring offers beauty unparalleled, with the city looking beautiful as the flowers start to bloom and sightseeing is at its best. The average temperature is around 12-18°C.

Gyeongju in spring is particularly lovely as the weather is mild and the trees turn a golden hue. The Boseong Tea Plantations are also a must-see in spring as the tea leaves start to sprout. The average temperature is around 17-18 degrees.

Busan in spring is when the city comes alive, as the weather is perfect for exploring all this coastal city has to offer. The average temperature is around 16 degrees.

Jeju Island in spring js when the weather is mild, and the flowers are in full bloom. The average temperature is around 20 degrees. It’s a great time to hike up Hallasan Mountain or explore the many waterfalls and caves on the island.

Busan in the fall is when the city’s beaches are still beautiful but not as crowded as in the summer. The average temperature is around 18-20 degrees.

Winter in South Korea

Winter in Korea, I’ll never forget how I felt when I saw the snow and my heart melted. I was in Deogyusan National Park in Muju-Gun, a few hours south of Seoul, and the mountains were the most breathtaking scenery I had ever seen. I am a Fair Dinkum Aussie, after all.

The country is blanketed in snow from December to February, and the temperatures can drop below freezing.

The winter months are a great time to visit if you want to experience Korea’s winter wonderland. The ski resorts are open for business, and the landscape is breathtaking. Be sure to wrap up warm, though, as the cold weather can be pretty unforgiving!

Seoul in winter is when the city creates a different atmosphere, as the Christmas lights are up and the snow creates a magical atmosphere. The average temperature is around -5-5 degrees.

Gyeongju in winter is when the city is blanketed in a sea of white, as the snow covers the landscape. The average temperature is around 0-8 degrees.

Busan in winter is when the city’s beaches are still beautiful but not as crowded as they are in the summer. However, it makes for great sightseeing in many famous tourist places. The average temperature is around 0-10 degrees.

Jeju-Do in winter is when the island’s natural scenery is at its best, as the snow covers the landscape of Hallassan Mountain. While warmer than the northern cities on the mainland, it can be pretty cold, so dress warmly. The average temperature is around 4-10 degrees.

When is the best time to visit South Korea? The answer is a unique and individual preference. I loved the winter months and the beautiful scenery that the snow brought with the occasion. However, the freezing temperatures sometimes made it challenging, and I am no good at skiing.

It’s the Spring months I love the most, particularly late April into early May, when the weather is beginning to warm, and the thick jackets are stored away until next winter. South Korea in spring is bursting with life and colours, and for outdoor enthusiasts like myself, it’s time to hike the mountains, explore the national parks and generally be one with nature.

If you ask me when is the best time to visit South Korea, it depends on what you’re looking for and what type of person you are.

If you’re anything like me, I can’t go a day without exercise, be it cardio, muscle building, stretching or relaxation. In this article are a few ideas for bodyweight exercise for travel you may consider when in the hotel room.

Here are a few bodyweight exercises for travel that you can do in your hotel room:

 

Lower body workouts

Ignore leg day; it’s overrated, they say. Not entirely, unfortunately, working out the legs is essential for daily movement, which is something we all need to do in our everyday lives.

Let’s discuss some of the best bodyweight leg exercises to do in the hotel room:

Squats

Squats is a classic workout burner that works the glutes, hamstrings, and quads. To do a bodyweight squat, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and lower your body down until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Keep your weight and drive through your heels to return to standing.

Squat Pulses

If you want to make your squats a bit more challenging, try squat pulses. To do this variation, lower yourself into a squat position and then pulse up and down a few inches for 30 seconds to one minute.

Lunges

Another excellent exercise for the legs is lunges to target the quads, glutes, and hamstrings. To make a bodyweight lunge:

  1. Start standing with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Take a big step forward with one leg and lower your body until both knees are at 90-degree angles.
  3. Keep your front knee over your ankle and push through your heels to return to standing.
  4. Repeat with the other leg.

Calf Raises

For this bodyweight exercise, you must find something sturdy to hold onto for balance. Start standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and raise onto your toes. Lower back down and repeat.

Everyone loves the perfect upper body with hardened pecs and big biceps. Let’s not forget about those triceps, either!

Push-ups

One of the most classic bodyweight exercises, push-ups, work the chest, shoulders, and triceps. To do a bodyweight push-up, start in a high plank position with your hands shoulder-width apart. Lower your body to the ground and press back to the starting position.

Diamond Push-ups

Try diamond push-ups if you want to make push-ups a bit more challenging. To do this variation, start in a high plank position with your hands in front of you, forming a diamond shape. Lower your body down and then press back up to the starting position.

Triceps Dips

For this bodyweight exercise, you will need something sturdy to grip onto, like a chair, bed or countertop. Start seated with your hands shoulder-width apart and palms flat on the surface in front of you. Lift your body off the ground and lower yourself by bending your elbows. Push back up to the starting position.

 

 

Core Workouts

A core workout, oh so painful on the stomach, yet rewarding at the end of the day. The core is essential for balance and stability and is vital to sustaining when you exercise.

Below are a few valuable core workouts to do while travelling:

Mountain climbers

Mountain climbers are a great bodyweight exercise to get your heart rate up and work the core. To do this exercise:

  1. Start in a high plank position with your hands shoulder-width apart.
  2. Bring one knee at a time up towards your chest and then return it to the starting position.
  3. Repeat for 30 seconds to one minute.

It’s my favourite core workout.

Crunches

To do a bodyweight crunch:

  1. Lie down with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground.
  2. Place your hands behind your head, then lift your shoulders off the ground and towards your knees.
  3. Return to the starting position and repeat the exercise.

Sit-ups

Sit-ups are a great bodyweight exercise to work the entire core. Lie down with your knees and feet flat on the ground to do this exercise. Place your hands behind your head and lift your whole body off the ground until you sit upright. Return to the starting position and repeat.

Planks

Planks are a bodyweight exercise that works the entire core. To do a plank, start in a high plank position with your hands shoulder-width apart and feet hip-width apart. Draw your belly button to your spine, and then engage your core muscles to hold the position for 30 seconds to one minute.

Bike-kicks

For this bodyweight exercise, you must lie down with your hands by your sides. Bring both knees towards your chest with feet off the ground, then pedal them in the air as if you’re riding a bike. Do this for 30 seconds to one minute.

Sit-thrus

This bodyweight exercise is great for the abs and back. Start by sitting on the ground with your legs in front of you and your hands behind you. Lean back and lift your legs off and over to one side. Return to the starting position and then repeat on the other side. Continue alternating sides for 30 seconds to one minute.

V-ups

To do a bodyweight V-up, lie down on your back with legs in front and arms by your sides. Engage your abs to lift your entire body off the ground, and then reach your hands towards your feet. Return to the starting position and repeat for 30 seconds to one minute

Russian twists

This bodyweight exercise is great for the abs. To do this exercise:

  1. Sit on the ground with your knees bent and pull your legs towards your chest.
  2. Lean back slightly and then twist your body to one side, bringing your hands to that side.
  3. Continue alternating sides for 30 seconds to one minute.
  4. Return to the starting position and then repeat on the other side.

Glue Bridge

A Glute bridge workout is good for the core, legs and back. To do this bodyweight exercise:

  1. Lie down with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground.
  2. Place your arms by your sides.
  3. Lift your hips off the ground, and then press through your heels to lift your body into the air, extending your hips until you form a straight line from your shoulders to your knees.
  4. Return to the starting position and repeat for 30 seconds to one minute.

Now we must continue to get the heart pumping, and an excellent old-fashioned cardio workout does the trick. Here are some cardio exercises you can do in the hotel room.

Running on the spot.

The most simple bodyweight cardio exercise there is, running on the spot. Start by standing on the area and lifting your knees as you pump your arms back and forth. Do this for one minute and then rest for 30 seconds before repeating the exercise.

High Knees

To do this bodyweight exercise:

  1. Start standing with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Bring one knee to your chest and quickly switch to the other side.
  3. Continue alternating sides for 30 seconds to one minute.

Jumping Jacks

Start by standing with your feet together and your hands by your sides. Jump your feet to the sides and bring them back together as you lift your hands above your head. Repeat for 30 seconds to one minute.

Burpees

The ultimate, full-body workout that you’ll be at the mercy for your next rest time. Start standing with your feet hip-width apart and lower your body into a low squat position. Place your hands on the ground before you, and then jump your feet back into a high plank position. Lower your body to the ground and jump your feet back to the starting position. Stand up and repeat for 30 seconds to one minute.

 

Walk, run or ride

When you’ve had enough of a workout in the hotel room, perhaps you need to go outside and see where you’re travel has taken you. You can do this with a stroll, run or bike ride. Take in the sights and sounds of your surroundings and get some fresh air.

Then maybe some local tours where you can enjoy a day tour and keep active by going on hikes or walks. You can even hit the water for adventure by swimming, canoeing, kayaking or diving.

However, the most enjoyable thing to do at the Foreshore is vital along the banks of the water and admire the views. You may even witness some light shows over the water during the busy tourist months, particularly in summer.

Enjoy a picnic dinner and watch a beautiful West Aussie sunset from the Foreshore.

 

Water activities in the Peel Inlet

The massive Peel Inlet covers a space of 134km2, which means there is a fair amount of water activities you can partake in on the Inlet.

Fun water activities include swimming, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, jet skiing and fishing. In season, you can even drop the net and try and catch a few crabs; remember to keep those crabs only incorrect size, or the rangers will be out to get you.

Mandurah Ocean Marina

The Ocean Marina is one of the best things to do in Mandurah if you’re looking for a place to relax and enjoy a gentle stroll.

It’s right near Dolphin Quay, so once you’re done exploring the Marina, the Indian Ocean and checking out a few fancy yachts, you can go to the Quay for dinner and drinks.

 

Watch Stunning Sunsets at a variety of Mandurah Beaches.

Many things to do in Western Australia include watching a stunning sunset. After all, it is the most isolated state in the world with a massive Western coastline.

Mandurah has a string of beaches that rival anywhere in Australia, if not the world and sunset is the perfect time to enjoy the fabulous beaches.

Some of my favourite beaches to watch a sunset in Mandurah include:

– Mandurah Ocean Marina Beach

– Halls Head Beach

– Falcon Bay Beach

– Pyramids Beach

Although, you’ll find many ideal spots in Mandurah to bunker down and watch the sun fade over the Indian Ocean.

Shopping Bonanza at Mandurah Forum

Did anyone say shopping?

If you’re looking for things to do in Mandurah, you can’t go past the Forum.

This large shopping centre is home to various shops and restaurants and a variety of sit-down cafes for a coffee hit. You’ll also find an extensive range of clothing brand outlets that come at quite a price. 

Whether you’re looking for a new outfit, purchase a few accessories or wish to window shop, the Mandurah Forum is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

Many famous brand outlets are available at the Forum, including Kmart, Big W, Coles, JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths and many more.

 

Family Fun at King Carnival

The King Carnival is an excellent activity to do with kids. The King Carnival is a family-friendly amusement park just outside the city centre and situated opposite the other side of the bridge to the main Foreshore area.

The amusement park has a variety of rides and attractions, making it the perfect place to spend a day with the family, get a little dizzy and enjoy plenty of laughs.

The King Carnival is only open on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm.

 

Explore the Creery Wetland Nature Reserve

The Creery Wetland Nature Reserve is a scenic wetland to explore alongside the Peel Inlet; It is home to various birds and wildlife.

The Nature Reserve is the perfect place to take a stroll and enjoy the peace of the wetland. You’ll even find a very popular Nourishing the Soul Cafe at the entrance to the Wetlands.m Be warned; the cafe can get very busy. 

The reserve is open from sunrise to sunset. However, remember to apply mosquito repellant.

 

Creery wetlands

Enjoy exploring the Creery Wetlands, and even stop by the Nourishing the Soul Cafe.

 

Remember the Fallen at Mandurah War memorial.

Situated in a scenic spot alongside the Western Foreshore in the Memorial Park, the Mandurah War Memorial is a beautiful and poignant place to visit to remember the fallen.

The memorial commemorates those who lost their lives during World War I, II, and the Vietnam War.

 

Swim at one of the best beaches in Mandurah

As mentioned earlier, Mandurah has some of the best beaches in Australia.

So, it would be a crime not to include swimming on this list of things to do in Mandurah.

The Dawesville Cut is a manufactured channel that connects the Peel Inlet to the Indian Ocean.

It was created to make it easier for boats to access the Peel Inlet.

The Dawesville Cut provides some of Mandurah’s most beautiful and scenic views. You can enjoy these views by taking a stroll along the Dawesville Cut or boat ride through the channel.

Even though solo travel can be enriching, there’s nothing like travelling with your loved ones. When we travel with our family, we create memories that will last a lifetime.

We may not always agree on everything, but at the end of the day, we always have each other to lean on. And that’s what makes family travel so special.

Go on; I dare you! Put down the smartphone and tablet, disconnect from the Wi-Fi and experience where you are.

One of the best things about travel is that it allows us to break from technology. We may be used to being connected 24/seven, but when we travel, we can unplug and enjoy our surroundings.

Breaking from technology is an excellent opportunity to connect with the people we’re travelling with and be present in the moment. Trust me; you won’t regret it!
