For $300, you can go tandem with the team at Jurien Bay Skydive and get a bird's eye view of the surrounding Bay area. Not that you may appreciate the sights while in total freefall, but in next to no time, you'll be floating through the sky and enjoying the best views on offer, that is, until you land.

Head on over to Cervantes, Australia, a Little Down the road

When you visit Cervantes, don't forget to stop by nearby Jurien Bay for some sightseeing and lobsters. It's worth 15 minutes of your time!

The best three things you can do in Cervantes include the Lobster Shack, where you can go on a Lobster Factory Tour and enjoy a delicious lobster lunch. Next, you should visit my favourite site in Cervantes or the whole region, Thirsty Point, a stunning location with dazzling views of the turquoise-coloured waters. It'll also make for a great walk along the beautiful beach as you look over the horizon.

Finally, the last place you must tick off in Cervantes is a trip to Lake Thetis, a picturesque lake perfect for a picnic. Yet, the fascinating thing you'll find about Lake Thetis is the Stromatolites, a living lifeform seen everywhere on the walkways around the lake.

Go a little further South to the Pinnacles Desert.

If you head a little more south than Cervantes, WA, or even up to Jurien Bay from Perth, you must visit the Pinnacles in the Nambung National Park.

The Limestone Pinnacle Formations initially formed thousands of years ago, and they are a spectacular natural attraction that needs to be visited at least once on your way through. Once inside the National Park, you pay the entrance fee at the ticket booth and drive your car, big or small, onto the hardened desert road and capture the Pinnacles up close.

You can park your car in the allotted spaces off the dusty road at any time and wander through the hundreds of Pinnacles that stand before you. Visiting one of the state's best tourist attractions is a great outing.

Whenever someone asks me about my favourite Kyoto temple, I can't help but think of the serene and captivating Kodaiji Temple. During my trip to Japan, I visited many awe-inspiring temples, such as Kinkakuji in Western Kyoto and Tenryuji Temple in Arashiyama. However, something extraordinary about Kodaiji sets it apart from the rest.

Upon entering the temple's grounds, I was immediately struck by the calm and tranquillity that enveloped me. The magnificent structures and beautiful scenery that surrounded me left me in awe. The temple was a true masterpiece, and I was lost in admiration for hours on end.

It's a temple of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, established in 1606. The temple was designed by Nene, who made it in honour of the deceased husband, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Like many historic structures worldwide, the Kodaiji has needed reconstruction due to past devastations.

For whatever reason, tourists who visit the famous Japanese city often underrate the temple for what it is today. This is a little confusing because this impressive attraction of scenic beauty is easily one of the most beautiful temples that I visited during my stay in Japan.

I must admit! I didn't get to them all, of course.

Where is Kodaiji Temple in Kyoto?

For tourists visiting the region, a trip to Kodaiji is hardly out of the way. It is situated in the Southern Higashiyama District in the Eastern Part of Kyoto, Japan, meaning it's not too far from the central part of the city and is located amongst many other tourist attractions such as Yasaka Shrine, Tenninji Temple, Ninenzaka, Gion, and Kiyomizu-Dera.

Perhaps being surrounded by so many amazing places can cause it to get a little neglected by mistake. However, for an entrance fee of 600 yen, there is no excuse to skip what I think is one of the finest temples in Kyoto.

I am not the most excellent architectural writer known to man, so I can only give it my best in this department. So, bear with me a little. Although, you can let the pictures do the talking for you.

Getting into it, I loved everything about the structures and design of the Kodaiji buildings. The primary colour in the main buildings was white-panelled walls mixed in with the brown framework. If you looked closely at the temple structures, you'd notice original artists' work paintings within the frames of the buildings.

Inside the temple grounds, you'll come across elegant structures, such as the Kangetsu-Dai, a roofed bridge that leads into another beautiful building. With the surrounding scenery in the background, it looks incredible. Throughout your journey, several tea houses add to the glamour of the Kodaiji Temple.

The Picturesque Scenery in and around the Kodai Temple

While it may not be as famous as Arashiyama's version, the Bamboo Grove is a sight. What's more, you'll appreciate the fact that there are far fewer crowds on this particular bamboo walk, allowing you to enjoy the serenity of the place.

I loved my Suite Room at the Hotel Himalayan Villa.

I was lucky enough to stay in a spacious and luxurious room at the hotel. The room was beautifully decorated and featured a comfortable king-size bed, which was perfect for a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring. The room also had a cable television with mainly Indian and Nepalese channels, so I could unwind and relax in front of the TV. In addition, the room had tea and coffee facilities, which made it easy for me to enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee whenever I wanted.

The bathroom was the highlight of the room for me. It was large and beautiful, with a spacious shower area where I could enjoy a hot shower. It was like having my own little spa in the room. The room also had a private balcony and an open terrace that offered breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Whether I was standing on the terrace or sitting on the balcony, I felt at peace, taking in the views and enjoying the fresh air.

My only regret was that I was travelling alone in Nepal and couldn't share this incredible hotel with my wife. This is a moment that you want to savor with those you love.

While my eyes couldn't witness the sunrise over the Himalayan Mountains, that doesn't mean they aren't there, and I hear the morning views can be incredible. There is no need to pack big for this tour; Turquoise Safaris provides all the essential equipment, such as snorkelling gear, wet suits, and flippers. They also provide morning tea or coffee, including Australians' favourite, Lamingtons. It fills you up nicely after a big morning swim.

It is recommended to bring a GoPro or an underwater camera with you on your adventure so you can capture all the magic that is happening down below in a video or in a picture. Those sea lions will try to be friendly with you and get quite close without warning, and you don’t want to miss a beat.

Going on a Sea Lion Swimming Adventure with Turquoise Safari Tours

Depending on the conditions for the day, there are usually two daily Sea Lion charters with Turquoise Tours. The first tour departs the Jurien Bay Boat Harbour at 8 am, and the second one departs at 10:30 am. Each visit will run for approximately two and a half hours.

The tour starts with the captain introducing himself and talking about the trip's routine, safety checks, and the handing out of the necessary equipment. Before chucking on a great selection of music for the ride out to Essex Rocks (a great variety of music, too, I must add), the boat trip takes around 15 minutes to reach the Sea Lions in Jurien Bay, WA.

At that point, we are pretty much ready to go in our snorkelling gear and wet suits. With the main attraction spotted on the island, we jump into the warm turquoise waters to snorkel with sea lions.

There are a few rules to follow when swimming with Sea Lions, as the team at Turquoise Safaris prides itself on protecting the life of the Sea Lion. You are not allowed to reach out and touch the sea animals or feed them. You’re also not allowed to step foot on the island itself because that is strictly the home for the Sea Lions.

It won’t dent your experience, however, because those Sea Lions will razzle and dazzle, get up close to you, and swim with you. Even if you are not allowed to touch them, those sea animals may not abide by the rules themselves. You can be rest assured, however, that the Sea Lions are super friendly and are not intimidated by human interactions in the area.

After 90-120 minutes in the warm waters, you will have seen many Sea Lions, who come and go as they please but are always around and letting you know they are here. After the mammoth swim that will exhaust you, it’s time to get back on the boat, take more beautiful pictures of the island or the surrounding area and enjoy your morning tea refreshment with coffee and lamingtons — a welcome sight after a big swim.

The Sea Lion tour is also an excellent activity for families venturing to Jurien Bay for a getaway, much like we did with our family of four. The kids were most curious about the Sea Lion.

Of course, for the tour, the kids may need to have basic swimming abilities. Parents can be assured that it is a safe activity for the kids, and the tour staff are always on the lookout for any signs of danger that may arise from the mainly calm waters of the bay.

The tour will be relatively tame for the kids, who will be excited to see the Sea Lions underwater and along the island, where the animals are seen in large numbers.
