Holiday Apartment vs Hotel – What is your Preferred Holiday Option?

Holiday Apartment vs Hotel – What is your Preferred Holiday Option?

Holiday Apartment vs Hotel – What is your Preferred Accommodation Option?

It’s a decision every traveller confronts when a choice is needed when jet-setting on holidays, and often it comes to personal preference as to what accommodation will suit your demands for the specific trip.

In the forefront of the mind, the decision will come down to the number of people in your travelling party and what will suit your vacation demands. That is when you know the answer to your question.

Therefore, when planning a trip away with a big group, it isn’t easy to decide whether a holiday apartment or hotel is the correct answer for you.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but maybe the points below will help you make the right decision in the Holiday Apartment vs Hotel debate.

Hotel Himalaya

Holiday Apartment vs Hotel – What is your preferred option?

Holiday Apartment vs Hotel – What is your Preferred Accommodation Option?

Holiday apartment or hotel? It’s a tough choice, but luckily there are pros and cons for both accommodation options.

Holiday apartments are usually more spacious than hotel rooms, and you have the bonus of cooking facilities and a living area. This can be great if you’re travelling with family or friends, as you can all spend time together in the evenings.

Holiday apartments can also be more cost-effective than hotels, as you only pay for one unit rather than multiple hotel rooms. On the downside, holiday apartments may not have the same level of security as hotels, and you may have to do your cleaning.

On the other hand, hotels offer 24-hour room service, daily housekeeping, and on-site amenities such as restaurants and swimming pools. Hotels can also be a good option if you travel solo, as they provide a safe and secure environment. The downside of hotels is that they can be more expensive than holiday apartments, and you may not have as much privacy.

Let’s continue the debate. So, which is your preferred accommodation option? Holiday apartment or hotel?

Privacy is the Key to your stay.

Even if you adore the people you’re travelling with, there will come the point when you need your own space. When you go to a big group to a hotel, you are often lumbered with a larger room, but you’re always on top of each other.

An apartment usually means you’ll have your bedroom and a door to close when needed.

It could come down to the price.

Depending on where you’re travelling to and the kind of luxury you’re looking for, there often isn’t too much difference between the price of an apartment and a hotel.

However, when you choose an apartment, like accommodation in Hamilton Island, you’ll likely share the price of everything. Meals and drinks will be cheaper if you share the cost too.

Home Away from Home can be crucial.

Sometimes you want a few home comforts. Staying in an apartment can feel like staying at home but with the bonus of exploring somewhere new.

It’s easier to feel comfortable in that setting where you can get whatever you want without asking someone else.

Added Extras for your stay

There aren’t many of us that aren’t online these days, and we often rely on a WiFi connection to stay in touch with family and friends.

While staying in a hotel, you may be charged excessive rates to connect to the WiFi. However, when staying at holiday apartments, the WiFi is usually in with the price of the stay. You may even need to work while you’re away.

If you plan on staying for a longer-than-average visit, you may want access to washers and dryers instead of paying for dry cleaning.

Perhaps you’ll want something as simple as a toaster to make your morning breakfast. The little things count when you want a stress-free holiday.

Resting by the pool.

Security Deposit is vital.

One of the significant advantages of staying in a hotel is that you don’t usually have to pay a security deposit.

So, if someone you’re travelling with decides to make a little mess, you won’t lose much money through no fault of your own. However, if the same happens while staying at an apartment, you’ll unlikely get your deposit back.

Of course, the best way to avoid that situation is to travel with responsible people.

Please leave it to someone Else.

Generally, you don’t want to think about washing dishes when you go on holiday. When you stay at a hotel, everything is done for you. If your stay is short, staying at a hotel can be part of the experience because it’s nothing like home.

Hotel Himalayan Villa – One of the Best hotels in Nagarkot – Nepal

The Himalayan Mountains are right there before you for all to see. It’s still some distance away, but the mountain’s overpowering presence makes it appear much closer.

While staying at the Hotel Himalayan Villa, I could see the Langtang Himalayan Ranges in all their glory, and they looked nothing short of sensational, courtesy of my private balcony in a luxury hotel room.

I came to this hotel in Nagarkot by luck, meaning it was not my choice to stay here. Still, I am very grateful it was included in the conclusion to the Chisapani and Nagarkot Trek I participated in during my Nepal trip.

I am grateful for the chance to stay here because I can share it with you now. If you get the opportunity to escape Kathmandu’s hustle and bustle, spend a night or two in the Hotel Himalayan Villas and unwind in the mountains.

The elegant hotel is only about an hour from Kathmandu, and you’ll have the chance to stay in one of the best hotels in Nagarkot, Nepal.

Located in the stunning Langtang Himalayan Range, the Hotel Himalayan Villa offers a luxury stay in Nepal with unforgettable views. This five-star hotel features world-class amenities and services and offers a variety of Nagarkot activities.

Whether you want to go trekking, mountain biking, or relaxing in the spa, the Hotel Himalayan Villa has something for everyone. And with the Langtang Himalayan Range right at your doorstep, you’ll never have to worry about getting bored.

The Open Terrace with the Himalaya Views

I haven’t seen every terrace in every hotel worldwide, and I am sure many have unbelievable views. However, this hotel in Nagarkot Kathmandu is undoubtedly one of the finest I have seen. When witnessing the best natural scenery, the Himalayan Villa is in the upper echelon.

Think about this for a second! You grab an Everest beer from the Royal Gurkha Bar. It fits the theme perfectly. You take your beer outside and slowly stand out on the Open Terrace, drinking the cold refreshment and staring at the mesmerising Himalayan views.

Your eyes remain fixated on the mountains because you want to take in the stunning scenic surroundings as much as possible, at least while you can. You keep staring until the sun goes down, eager for the sunrise and hoping you’ll wake up to a clear day.

Imagine having the freedom to choose where you want to enjoy your drink of choice, whether it be a bottle of beer, a glass of wine, or any other liquor. You have two options—either take your drink to the open terrace, where you can take in the breathtaking views, or relax in the elegant Royal Gurkha Bar located inside the luxurious Hotel Himalaya in Nepal.

Nepal can get chilly, especially in the evening, so it’s always a smart move to relish the warmth of the comfortable chairs inside the bar while socializing with your loved ones. As the golden sun slowly retreats behind the majestic mountains, their grandeur remains a sight to behold. You can now savour your favourite drinks in the company of breathtaking views at the restaurant situated just below the bar at the Hotel Himalayan Villa.

The restaurant offers a sumptuous buffet spread that will leave you spoilt for choice. From succulent carvery meats to hearty casseroles, flavorful stir-fries, fresh salads, and mouth-watering desserts, there’s something for everyone.

The restaurant’s location makes it the perfect spot for a leisurely breakfast. You can start your day with a nourishing omelette and a variety of other scrumptious dishes while admiring the stunning Himalayan scenery through the restaurant’s large windows.

The Elegant hotel suite room

I loved my Suite Room at the Hotel Himalayan Villa.

I was lucky enough to stay in a spacious and luxurious room at the hotel. The room was beautifully decorated and featured a comfortable king-size bed, which was perfect for a good night’s sleep after a long day of exploring. The room also had a cable television with mainly Indian and Nepalese channels, so I could unwind and relax in front of the TV. In addition, the room had tea and coffee facilities, which made it easy for me to enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee whenever I wanted.

The bathroom was the highlight of the room for me. It was large and beautiful, with a spacious shower area where I could enjoy a hot shower. It was like having my own little spa in the room. The room also had a private balcony and an open terrace that offered breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Whether I was standing on the terrace or sitting on the balcony, I felt at peace, taking in the views and enjoying the fresh air.

My only regret was that I was travelling alone in Nepal and couldn’t share this incredible hotel with my wife. This is a moment that you want to savor with those you love.

A Morning Nagarkot Sunrise to remember

I’ll be honest: I didn’t get the incredible sunrise. Sometimes, that is your luck, but I was not about to complain about the little things that didn’t go my way due to thick cloud coverage; I had already seen such incredible scenery the afternoon before and the previous days.

While my eyes couldn’t witness the sunrise over the Himalayan Mountains, that doesn’t mean they aren’t there, and I hear the morning views can be incredible. Whether you catch the light from your private balcony or at the Open Terrace, set your alarm clock early to see the best of Nepal from the Hotel Himalayan Villa.

So, if you’re looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Nepal, check out the Hotel Himalayan Villa in Nagarkot.

I promise you it’ll be worth it.

Top 2 Affordable Hotels in Kathmandu for Thrifty Travellers!

Top 2 Affordable Hotels in Kathmandu for Thrifty Travellers!

Browsing through the Booking.com website was a satisfying experience. I meticulously read reviews, checked amenities, and finally clicked the “book now” button to confirm my affordable hotels in Kathmandu for my Nepal trip.

I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to hotel hunting. I prefer hotels over hostels, valuing privacy and a warm shower. Therefore, I spent time researching and analysing before deciding, just like I did for my Kathmandu hotel booking.

As a solo traveller in Nepal, I focused solely on my preferences while searching for the perfect hotel in Kathmandu. With no family to consider, the process was streamlined, making finding accommodations that met my needs easier.

I aimed to secure two hotels in Kathmandu – one before and one after my mountain trek in Nepal. Through a systematic elimination process, I identified the perfect accommodation in Kathmandu, and I must say, I made excellent choices on both occasions.

Now, let’s delve into details about these two budget-friendly gems in Kathmandu, which worked for me and could also accommodate your requirements when you visit the Nepalese capital.

Top 2 Affordable Hotels in Kathmandu for Thrifty Travelers!

From the outset, I want to make it clear that the two hotels I’m about to discuss are not what you would call luxurious. They are unlike a Park Hyatt or The Radisson, where you can expect all the bells and whistles. However, they do offer a comfortable and convenient stay for budget travellers.

These hotels are the antithesis of luxury but are absurdly affordable and offer a decent place to rest your head for the night. You may not get a room with a view, but you will get a bed to sleep in and a shower to freshen up after a long day of exploring. And let’s be honest, when you’re travelling, you’re not spending much time in your hotel room anyway.

Just a quick note on the Kathmandu hotel price I paid – it may not be the same rate you get, as it varies depending on the time of year or season you visit Nepal. Regardless of the price, these hotels provide a safe and comfortable option for budget-conscious travellers looking to experience all of Nepal’s offers.

Hotel Horizon Kathmandu

The Hotel Horizon Kathmandu was an old and rundown hotel that lacked modern amenities. Despite that, the hotel provided a satisfying daily breakfast that was included in the room rate. The room itself was pretty basic, without a television or heating.

The outside noise could be heard, but the room had a large bed, plenty of blankets for warmth, a hot shower, and a desk for writing. I paid only AUD$13 per night for this room, making it an affordable option for budget travellers exploring Kathmandu.

The hotel was located in the bustling streets of Thamel, a popular tourist area in Kathmandu. This meant that significant restaurants, bars, and cafes surrounded the hotel. Also, taxi stands were nearby, making visiting the city’s main tourist attractions easy.

Despite the hotel’s lack of modern amenities, its prime location and affordable rate make it an excellent choice for travellers who want to stay in the city’s heart. To check out Hotel Horizon and find the best hotel rates, visit Booking.com using this link.

Pros:

  • Large daily breakfast with coffee
  • Warm Shower
  • Comfortable bed with plenty of blankets
  • Very cheap hotel in the Thamel area
  • Nice Lobby set-up
  • Great location

Cons:

  • The hotel is a little run down
  • No television
  • No heating
  • No daily housekeeping
  • Not the cleanest of hotels

Hotel Royal Suite

The Hotel Royal Suite is a fantastic accommodation option that offers excellent value for money. At only AUD$30 a night, it is only double the price of other hotels in the area, making it an affordable option for any traveller.

Despite its low price, the hotel offers a range of amenities that you would expect from a much more expensive hotel. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and its spacious bathrooms are a welcome relief after a long day of exploring Kathmandu. The hotel also has air-conditioning, cable TV, room service, daily housekeeping, and very comfortable bedding.

One of the best things about the Hotel Royal Suite is its location in the Thamel area. This area is known for its incredible tours, and guests can book these tours easily with Klook. Although the hotel may not look like much from the outside, once you step inside, you’ll be blown away by its quality.

The Hotel Royal Suite is an excellent three-star hotel perfect for any traveler. Its friendly and helpful staff will ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. To experience the Hotel Royal Suite for yourself and find the best rates, be sure to check out Booking.com with this link.

Pros:

  • Clean and tidy hotel
  • Large and spacious rooms
  • Cable television
  • Air-conditioning
  • Affordable price
  • Great location
  • Fantastic and happy staff members
  • Fantastic TripAdvisor rating and one of the best hotels in Thamel

Cons:

  • Hard to fault this hotel for the price
  • Lifts are a bit slow (was trying to find something)

Finding you the Best Hotel in Kathmandu

When finding the perfect hotel, I always rely on Booking.com, whether travelling solo or with my family. During my recent trip to Kathmandu, Nepal, I conducted thorough research and was pleased with every hotel I stayed in.

One thing to remember is that Kathmandu is a bustling city with a lot of noise, especially during the day. Thus, searching for a hotel that can provide a peaceful atmosphere is essential. You may consider a hotel with soundproofing features, a certain degree of privacy, a complimentary breakfast, and a bar for evening drinks. With that said, finding a bar in Kathmandu shouldn’t be an issue, as numerous options are available.

My best advice is to explore as many hotels as possible, eliminate those that do not fit your requirements or budget and read reviews from like-minded travellers, including families, couples, and solo travellers. By doing so, you can gain insights into the experiences of others and make an informed decision.

In addition, I recommend only considering hotels with a rating of seven or higher, as many affordable hotels in Kathmandu offer excellent service. Doing so will enable you to find a bargain and enjoy the rest of your trip without worrying about your accommodation.

My experience in Kathmandu was fantastic, and I highly recommend visiting this beautiful city. With Booking.com, finding the perfect hotel is accessible, and you can rest assured that your travel needs will be met.
